  1. Describing and commenting
  • Eίναι ωραίο! It’s nice/lovely!
  • Είναι πολύ γλυκό! It’s very/too sweet!
  • Δεν είναι καλό! It isnt good!
  1. Talking about what’s available
  • Υπάρχει νοσοκομείο; Is there a hospital?
  • Έχει πρόβλημα. There’s a problem.
  • Δεν έχει ζεστό νερό. There’s no hot water.
  1. Talking about having
  • Έχουμε εισιτήρια. We have tickets.
  • Δεν έχω ψιλά. Ι haven’t got (any) change.
  • Έχετε λίρες; Have you got (any) pounds?
  1. Asking what things are
  • Τί είναι αυτό; What is this?
  • Τί είναι αυτά; What are they?
  • Τί είναι…….. στα ελληνικά ; Whats…… in Greek?
  1. Asking where things are
  • Πού είναι η τράπεζα; Where is the bank?
  • Πού είναι οι τουαλέτες; Where are the toilets?
  1. Saying what you like and dislike
  • Μου αρέσει η σοκολάτα. I like chocolate.
  • Σας αρέσει το χταπόδι; Do you like octοpus?
  • Δεν μ’αρέσουν οι ντομάτες. I dont like tomatoes.
  1. Saying you want (to do) something
  • Θέλω ψωμί. I want (some) bread.
  • Θέλουμε τον λογαριασμό. We want the bill.
  • Θέλω να πάω εκεί. Ι want to go there.
  1. Saying/ asking if you can do something.
  • Μπορώ να πληρώσω με κάρτα. I can pay by card.
  • Mπορώ να κλέισω ταξί; Can I book a taxi?
  1. Asking somebody to do something
  • Το λέτε ξανά; (Could you) say it again?

10. Imposing and apologizing

  • Συγγνώμη. Sorry, excuse me.
  • Παρακαλώ. Excuse me/please/ you’re welcome
  • Παρακαλώ; Ι’ m sorry?/ Pardon/ (yes) please?
