Α noun may be modified by another noun in the same case (nominative, accusative or genitive). In these cases the modifying noun specifies the identity of the head noun and is called apposition.

Ο Άργος, ο σκύλος του Λάκη, έχει χαθεί από χθες το απόγευμα.

Ο Λάκης είναι πολύ στενοχωρημένος που έχασε το σκύλο του, τον Άργο.

Η τύχη του Άργου, του σκύλου του Λάκη, αγνοείται.

The modifying noun is indeclinable.

Όταν πήγε ο Nίκος στην Κρήτη, έμεινε στον ξενώνα «Ο Κρητικός».

Η Κλειώ και η Αγκάθα είχαν δώσει ραντεβού στις 8:30 έξω από την είσοδο του κινηματογράφου «Δαναός»

There are also appositive structures in which the modifying noun declines according to the head and it is interchangeable with it.

Ο Κώστας διάβασε μέσα σ’ ένα βράδυ ένα βιβλίο του Νίκου Καζαντζάκη, του αγαπημένου του συγγραφέα

When the noun phrase denotes content, size, quantity, and dimension, both the modifying and the modified nouns are in the same case.

Πάνω στο γραφείο του ο Νίκος έχει ένα κουτί μαρκαδόρους / Πάνω στο γραφείο του Νίκου υπάρχει ένα κουτί μαρκαδόροι.
Η βιβλιοθήκη του Γιάννη έχει δύο μέτρα ύψος, τέσσερα μέτρα πλάτος και είναι γεμάτη βιβλία.

Ιn the following sentences, the first one denotes content, whereas the second refers to a specific kind of spoon (small, teaspoon).
Η Μαρία έφαγε μόνο ένα κουταλάκι γλυκό, για να μην παχύνει. Η Μαρία βάζει στον καφέ του ένα κουταλάκι του γλυκού ζάχαρη.
