Where does the word philanthropy come from?

The word “philanthropy” comes to the English language from Greek. In the Greek tradition, the word philanthropy grows from the words “philos” meaning “love” and “anthropos” meaning “man” or “humanity.” Literally, in the original Greek meaning, the word philanthropy is the “love of humanity.”

The words Charity and Philanthropy are often used interchangeably, but actually there is a difference between these two concepts. … Charity tends to be emotional, immediate response which mainly focused on rescue and relief, whereas Philanthropy is more strategic and built on rebuilding.
