Adverbial clauses may follow or precede the main clause and are introduced by the following conjunctions

cause: γιατί, επειδή, διότι, αφού, εφόσον, μια και

purpose: ( για) να

result: (έτσι) ώστε (να), που (να), με αποτέλεσμα να

If there is a lexical subject in the purpose clause, it must follow the verb.Έφυγα αμέσως για να προλάβει η Δέσποινα τα μαγαζιά.

When the cause clause is introduced by the conjunctions γιατί or διότι, it must follow the main clause.Ήρθα γιατί / διότι ήθελα να σου μιλήσω.

With ώστε να, it is possible to insert the subject of the result clause between the two elements.Φώναξε έτσι ώστε ο Σαχίνης να σηκωθεί να φύγει.

In some cases, the meanings of purpose and result are blurred.Του μίλησε τόσο άσχημα ώστε να τον κάνει να φύγει.
