κοντά =  near/ close  κοντά σε= close to

Example Το σπίτι μου είναι κοντά σε ένα πάρκο.My house is close to a park

But if the κοντα σε is followed by the articles τον, την, το (when you refer to a specific place) the two words σε+ τον, την, το become one-word στον, στην, στο.

Example:To σπίτι μου είναι κοντά στο σχολείο Chorlton.My house is close to the school Chorlton.

δίπλα=next/ δίπλα σε =next to

Example a Το σπίτι μου είναι δίπλα σε ένα πάρκο.

My house is next to a park

Example b  To σπίτι μου είναι δίπλα στο σχολείο Chorlton.

My house is next to the school Chorlton.
