Some prepositions -most of which have survived from ancient Greek- are followed by a noun in the genitive case: εκτός (outside, besides, apart from), εναντίον (against), επί (in time of, on a topic), μεταξύ (between, among), υπέρ (in favor of), διά (by, through), εκ / εξ (from), περί (about), προ (before).

Examples: Είναι εκτός τόπου και χρόνου.
