Concessive clause (Παραχωρητική / εναντιωματική πρόταση): a clause which expresses concession / contrast and is introduced by conjunctions such as αν και, παρόλο που, μολονότι, κι ας, ακόμη / έστω κι αν, όσο και να Αν και ήταν νύχτα, ο Tεό βγήκε έξω. Όσο ακριβό και να ’ναι, θα το αγοράσω.
Conditional clause (Υποθετική πρόταση): a clause which is mainly introduced by the conjunctions αν, εάν, άμα or phrases such as έτσι και, σε περίπτωση που, εκτός κι αν. It expresses the condition(s) under which the event described in the main clause (apodosis) can take place Αν μένεις στην Αθήνα, (θα) βλέπεις συχνά τους φίλους σου. Αν έμενες στην Αθήνα, θα έβλεπες συχνότερα τους φίλους σου.
Conjunction (Σύνδεσμος): a word that links phrases or clauses (see also complementizer) Σκέφτεται ότι/ πως/ αν θα τον παντρευτεί αλλά δεν το αποφασίζει.
Copula verb (Συνδετικό ρήμα): a verb which links the subject with its predicate. The most common copula verbs are: είμαι, γίνομαι, φαίνομαι, μοιάζω (see also predicate). Ο καφές είναι κρύος.
Definite article (Οριστικό άρθρο): the article (ο, η, το) that denotes a specific item with the noun it modifies (see also indefinite article) Είναι ο φίλος μου ο γιατρός
Demonstrative (Δεικτική αντωνυμία): pronoun refering to a specific entity: αυτός, -ή, -ό Αυτό το αγόρι μ’ αρέσει πολύ
Deponent verb (Αποθετικό ρήμα): a verb that has only medio-passive forms Η Αγκάθα φοβάται το σκοτάδι.
Derivatiοn (Παραγωγή): the process by which a word is formed from another word through an affix χτίζω / χτίστης / χτίσιμο / χτίσμα / άχτιστος
Direct object (Άμεσο αντικείμενο): the complement noun phrase required by a transitive verb, usually in the accusative. It denotes the person or the thing affected by the action of the verb Ο Τεό αγαπάει την Αγκάθα.
Ditransitive verb (Ρήμα με δύο αντικείμενα): a verb which requires two complements, a direct object and an indirect object Έδωσε ένα φιλί(direct object) στην Αγκάθα(indirect object)
